What I Want

Summer is almost upon us. Again. And just like last year, I have a list of Wants and To-Do's. While my To-Do's probably include many things that I will never do, like go to the gym, get waxed, get pedicures...etc, my Want list always includes things I can't get. Not this year. Hopefully I can at least get at least a few things on my want list.

So, isn't this lovely bird just adorable? I want her shoes, her bag (which is perfect for summer traveling, which I hope to do tons of), her skirt...everything. Smack a floral bustier on that skirt, toss the tights, and it's a perfect outfit for summer nights.

Here is Vitamininmotion, always looking like she doesn't even need to try to look amazing. I want those shorts! It's so hard to find high waisted shorts that are not only flattering, but decently priced. Most make me look like my mother when I was in the third grade. Not good. Not only that, but with the high-waisted craze, it's so hard to find any in my size. Sigh.

And what about this cute painting? I totally want this for my new house. I have no idea where I would put it, but is that really important? No, not really.

This summer, I want to wear turbans. Yes, turbans. Keep in mind, they keep your hair out of the way, keep the heat off of your head, and look Oh! So! Cute! Well, at least in this picture....

Unrelated to summer, but totally related to summer hosting, I wish I could decorate my house like George's room in the flat in Help! I just love the mix of color, modern and vintage furniture. Besides, even if I wasn't able to paint my walls a beautiful shade of green, I want that furniture!

And although Jen and I are still no where near finishing anything up in regards to the dresses (hey, it's been busy, alot of bars, festivals and parties, okay?), wouldn't it be adorable to have tags, such as the one's here?

My safari inspiration

While I was unable to finish my dress this weekend, due to laziness and a busy schedule, I did have time to find inspiration to keep me motivated. While there are two themes that are running through my head while I make this dress, neither one really correlates to the other. But I hope you can see how I will combine African inspired textiles with a vintage bathing suit cut. Wish me luck!

I want to create a turban similar to this, to go along with the dress.

From Vogue Italia, April 2005
Vintage bathing suits inspire the shape of the dress.
These textiles are colorful and eccentric.

Paul Mitchell

I had my presentation at MTI Paul Mitchell Partner School today and it went great!
I am now going to shadow one of the main instructors and then they will send me off to LBC for training.
Pretty exciting.

Today I was looking at Japan's Fashion Week: 2008 Spring/Summer Collections.
Here is what I found...

Zebra! Zebra!

This weekend will be crazy!

A couple days ago I got a call from Paul Mitchell Cosmetology School here in Sacramento.  They asked me to come in on Tuesday and give a presentation.  If all goes well, I will be their newest instructor!  I am so excited  Scary, me teaching to a room full of people who are probably all older than me.  Oh man.

Then on Sunday I will be going with Yadi here to Threads!

Okay, back to fashion...

Emma Cook is now featured at Topshop.  She is using childhood-like prints with monochromatic zebra and graphic prints in a bright colour palette!  Style ranges from comfy square-cut tanks to prom-ish dresses, drop-armhole vests and little tea dresses.  Super cute!  They need to have a San Francisco location already.  I'm just sayin'.

Viernes!

Good Friday, lovelies.
The weather is wonderful, the sun is out, and I've got my Chai. This weekend should be fun too. Tonight, I will hopefully be finishing up my dress that I plan on wearing to Coachella, tomorrow I look forward to Picnic Day in Davis, and on Sunday, I will be part of a photo shoot for XLR8R in San Francisco and will hopefully be attending Thread. So, all in all, it's a great Friday. With so many events coming up, I'm sure to need some quick minute inspiration for outfits. Here are some of my favorite things today:

Good Morning

Good morning all!
It is true. Jen and I will be joining the blogging community, finally! We wanted a way to showcase our talents (don't laugh, Dean), inspiration, photography, ideas and of course, our friends. We also wanted a space to rant, review music and film, discuss politics (or just what I hear on NPR), and have a space for where discussion of such things is allowed on a deep and on a superficial level. So, feel free to comment, criticize, or just tell us your thoughts. Now, off to get some Chai!
xoxo

Testing 123

Yadira and I are trying to get this thing up and running.  Since we're both busy girls it's going to take a couple days of internet communication.  As soon as you know it we'll have pictures of our Spring/Summer 08  line, along with inspiration we find here and there.
Until then...
